BARDIANI – CSF PRO TEAM

Arriva finalmente il primo ottimo risultato per il Bardiani – CSF Pro Team al Tour of Qatar.

 

A conquistarlo è stato lo sprinter Nicola Ruffoni che ha colto il 5° posto in volata al termine della 4° frazione da Al Thakhira a Mesaieed per 165.5km.

 

CRONACA

 

La tappa partiva un’ora e dieci minuti in anticipo rispetto ai programmi iniziali, a causa del forte vento contrario nella seconda parte. Una fuga di tre atleti animava la corsa fino a circa 20km dall’arrivo quando le squadre dei velocisti chiudevano il gap.

Il gruppo arrivava pressoché compatto dentro all’ultimo km, anche se alcune sbandate in testa rimescolavano più volte le posizioni. Lanciato sprint Ruffoni prendeva la ruota Guardini (Astana), lo saltava ma quando stava per arrivare in zona podio era chiuso sulla destra della rettilineo e non trovando un varco per passare chiudeva in quinta posizione. Un risultato comunque di prestigio per lui e l’intera squadra che può guardare ora con maggiore fiducia alle prossime due frazioni.

DICHIARAZIONI

 

Nicola Ruffoni:”E’ stata una volata molto tirata al termine di una tappa dove il forte vento contrario ci ha creato non pochi problemi. I miei compagni mi hanno scortato al meglio e poi è toccato a me destreggiarmi dentro all’ultimo chilometro. Ero messo bene a ruota di Guardini e quando sono partito per cercare di raggiungere Kristoff ho trovato la strada chiusa sulla destra da Blythe. Non c’era lo spazio sufficiente e ho chiuso 5°. Sono comunque soddisfatto perché ogni giorno sento di stare meglio e oggi ho potuto dare una prima conferma”.

 

Roberto Reverberi, Team Manager & DS:”Un piazzamento che da morale a tutto l’ambiente dopo le prime tappe alquanto difficili. Correre qui in Qatar non è affatto semplice, specie per ragazzi giovani come i nostri. Però oggi appena c’è stata la possibilità di una tappa con uno sviluppo più lineare, siamo venuti fuori molto bene, supportando nel finale Ruffoni che ha poi fatto una bella volata. Ora dobbiamo continuare così sia domani che nel gran finale di Venerdì a Doha”.

 

 

RUFFONI SPRINTS TO 5TH IN QATAR

 

 

Finally a positive results has arrived from Tour of Qatar. In fact sprinter Nicola Ruffoni claimed in 5th place at the end of Stage 4 from Al Thakhira – Mesaieed of 165.5km.

 

REPORT

 

Due to the wind the stage started one hour and ten minutes earlier than originally planned. A breakaway of three-men stayed in front until 20km to go when the peloton after a long pursuit closed the gap.

All together the riders arrived inside the last km, despite some skids in front that changed leading positions. When the sprint was launched Ruffoni took Guardini’s wheel (Astana), he pipped him but when he came close to first three positions he was closed on the right side of the final straight. He didn’t find enough space to continue to sprint and crossed the line in 5th place.

However a positive result for him and the whole squad that can look now with more confidence to the next two stages.

Nicola Ruffoni:”It was a demanding sprint after a new one stage where wind, especially headwind, was strong. My teammates supported me really well in the last decisive part, then arrived my turn to find the right position for the bunch sprint. I was good when I jumped out from Guardini’s wheel, but where I was coming close to Kristoff, I found ahead Blythe of Orica and any space to pass him. Anyway after tough days this is a first good result. Day by day I’m feeling my condition grow and so I’m really confidence for next two stages”.

 

Roberto Reverberi, Team  Manager & DS:”A top-5 that means a great boost for the morale of whole squad. Race here in Qatar is not easy especially with so young riders as our. But today at first stage with a normal development and without windstorms, we came out with a solid team performance with Ruffoni that made a good sprint. Now we have to continue in this way during the next two stages”.
