CAMPIONATI NAZIONALI – NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Il fine settimana dei campionati nazionali si è chiuso per la LAMPRE-MERIDA con altri tre successi che vanno ad aggiungersi ai due titoli già conquistati nei giorni scorsi (Oliveira campione portoghese a cronometro e Grmay campione etiope a cronometro), portando il bottino stagionale della squadra blu-fuchsia-verde a quota 21 vittorie (conquistata da ben 12 corridori differenti, quasi il 50% dell’organico del team).

 

Tsgabu Grmay aveva già confermato il proprio titolo nella prova contro il tempo e oggi, al termine dei 140 km del percorso nella città di Jimma, è riuscito a difendere la maglia di campione etiope su strada. Per Grmay si tratta del terzo successo nel campionato nazionale.

 

Anche la rassegna nazionale portoghese è stata dominata dalla LAMPRE-MERIDA: per il secondo anno consecutivo, la squadra blu-fucsia-verde ha vinto sia la cronometro che la corsa su strada.

Nel 2014 fu Oliveira a centrare la doppietta, quest’anno Rui Costa ha trionfato nella corsa in linea, dopo che lo stesso Oliveira si era ripetuto nella gara contro il tempo.

Il campione del mondo di Firenze si è imposto al termine di una gara molto impegnativa (Braga, 193,2 km) che ha visto Oliveira e Mario Costa lavorare in testa al gruppo per più di 140 km per preparare la strada al compagno di squadra.

Rui Costa ha sfoggiato la sua classe, precedendo nell’ordine Brandao, Machado (2″) e Amaro (5″), conquistando il primo titolo nazionale su strada (già due titoli a cronometro in bacheca).

 

Nel campionato sloveno (178,3 km a Mirna Pec), il giovanissimo Luka Pibernik conquista la seconda maglia di campione nazionale della sua breve carriera.

Già campione sloveno nel 2013, il 21enne di Ljubljana si è imposto su Fajt e Bozic, portando a termine nel miglior modo possibile una lunga fuga.

 

 

Three more national titles for LAMPRE-MERIDA

 

LAMPRE-MERIDA completed the weekend of the national championships adding three titles to the two ones which had been already won (Oliveira in the Portugues TT and Grmay in the Ethiopian TT), for a total of 5 titles and 21 seasonal victories (obtained by 12 different cyclists, nearly the 50% of the roster).

 

After having won the time trial championship, Tsgabu Grmay obtained the success in the Ethiopian road championship.

He was the best rider on the 140 km course in Jimma, adding the third national title to his list of victories.

 

The Portuguese national championships too were kingdom of LAMPRE-MERIDA, as it had happened in the 2014 season thanks to the double by Oliveira.

Today Rui Costa won the road title, after that on Friday Oliveira had obtained the time trial championship.

Rui Costa was first at the arrival of a very demanding course (193,2 km, Braga), also thanks to the support by the team mates Mario Costa and Oliveira, who led the group and supported Rui until the final part of the race.

The world champion of Florence 2013 preceded Brandao, Machado (2″) and Amaro (5″) and won the first road national title in his career (he had already obtained two portuguese time trial championships).

 

The young talented rider Luka Pibernik is the new Slovenian champion.

He obtained his second national title in career (he had won the first one in 2013) on the 178,3 km course in Mirna Pec, preceding Fajt and Bozic at the end of a long breakaway.
