JUNIORES. GIRO DELLA LUNIGIANA: ANDREA PICCOLO HA VINTO LA 44^ EDIZIONE, L’ULTIMA TAPPA È DEL TEDESCO BRENNER

Il Giro della Lunigiana torna a parlare italiano dopo due anni grazie ad Andrea Piccolo, trionfatore in un’edizione che ha visto tre corridori italiani ai primi tre posti della classifica generale.

Alle spalle di Piccolo infatti si sono piazzati il suo compagno della selezione lombarda Alessio Martinelli e un altro lombardo, convocato dalla Nazionale Italiana di Rino de Candido, Andrea Piras.

L’ultima frazione, la Fiumaretta – Luni di 107 km, ha visto protagonisti Wilksch (Germania), Ongaro (Veneto), Malavolta (E. Romagna), Galimberti (Lombardia), Slomp (Trentino), Regnanti e Baglioni (Toscana), autori di una fuga che ha costretto il gruppo ad un lungo inseguimento, culminato in prossimità dell’inizio del giro finale del circuito di Ortonovo Paese dopo che gli attaccanti erano riusciti ad avere fino a 2’10” di vantaggio massimo.

Pablo Sanchez (Monaco Junior Team by Astana) provava a sorprendere i favoriti ma sulle rampe dell’ultimo GPM partivano con decisione Tiberi (Toscana) e Brenner (Germania).

Il corridore del team Franco Ballerini – Due C guadagnava i punti sufficienti per portare a casa la classifica dei GPM ma non riusciva a rispondere allo scatto del rivale che partiva in solitario a 6 km dall’arrivo.

Per Brenner il terzo successo parziale di questo Giro della Lunigiana con Tiberi al posto d’onore a 29″ e il lombardo Francesco Calì, vincitore della 2^ tappa, a regolare la volata del gruppo Maglia Verde, giunto a 41″.

ANDREA PICCOLO HAS WON THE 44TH GIRO DELLA LUNIGIANA

The 44th Giro della Lunigiana has an italian winner two years after the last time. His name is Andrea Piccolo, he comes from Lombardia and he stands on top of a podium all italian with his team mate Alessio Martinelli in 2nd place and Andrea Piras, from the Italian National Team, in 3rd.

The last stage, 107 kms from Fiumaretta to Luni, was the scenario of a seven men breakaway, Wilksch (Germany), Ongaro (Veneto), Malavolta (E. Romagna), Galimberti (Lombardia), Slomp (Trentino), Regnanti e Baglioni (Toscana), an attempt that has forced the peloton to a hard mission as the maximum gap was of 2’10”.

At the beginning of the last lap of the circuit with the climb of Ortonovo Paese the peloton was back on the breakaway and it was time for Pablo Sanchez (Monaco Junior Team by Astana) to try to anticipate the favourites but on the last KOM of this edition of the Giro della Lunigiana he was caught and dropped by Antonio Tiberi (Toscana) and Marco Brenner (Germany).

The rider of the team Franco Ballerini – Due C secured the red jersey of the KOM classification but he couldn’t keep the pace of his breakaway companion that went solo with 6 kms to go to achieve his third stage win in the race.

Tiberi defended his 2nd place 29″ behind his rival and the third place went to the winner of the 2nd stage, Francesco Calì, that won the sprint of the Green Jersey group.
