LAMPRE-MERIDA

Splenderà il Sol Levante sulla stagione 2016 della LAMPRE-MERIDA, grazie all’ingaggio di Yukiya Arashiro (foto Bettini).

 

Il team manager Brent Copeland ha chiuso l’accordo con l’atleta nipponico, il quale correrà così per il prossimo anno vestendo i colori blu-fucsia-verdi, primo ciclista giapponese nella storia del team.

 

Arashiro, nato a Ishigaki nel 1984, è abituato a realizzare primati, essendo un corridore che ha segnato la storia del movimento ciclistico professionistico nipponico: è stato il primo corridore giapponese a completare un Tour de France (2009), a classificarsi nelle prime cinque posizioni di una tappa della Grande Boucle (5° nella Monaco-Brignoles, 2^tappa Tour de France 2009) e nelle prime tre posizioni di una frazione del Giro d’Italia (3° nella Novara-Novi Ligure, 5^tappa del Giro d’Italia 2010), oltre a essere l’unico ciclista nipponico ad aver ottenuto un piazzamento in una top 10 di una classica (10° all’Amstel Gold Race 2014).

Professionista dal 2006, in carriera ha ottenuto 7 vittorie, partecipando a 5 Tour de France, 2 volte al Giro d’Italia e correndo una Vuelta a Espana.

 

“La LAMPRE-MERIDA ha ingaggiato un corridore simbolo del ciclismo asiatico, uno dei migliori rappresentanti dell’intera storia ciclistica del Giappone, nazione dall’importante tradizione ciclistica – ha spiegato Brent Copeland – Arashiro ha spinto verso traguardi di alto livello le frontiere del ciclismo orientale ottenendo importanti risultati e maturando grandi esperienze.

Per questo motivo, è un atleta apprezzato in Europa e amatissimo in Giappone: anche grazie a Merida, siamo riusciti a definire l’accordo per vedere correre Yukiya nella LAMPRE-MERIDA nella stagione 2016.

Grazie alla sua esperienza e alle qualità , che gli hanno consentito recentemente di ottenere il 17° posto ai Mondiali, sarà sicuramente un innesto interessante per il gruppo blu-fucsia-verde.

La nostra squadra ha sempre raccolto ampi consensi presso gli appassionati nipponici e vanta una buona tradizioni di partecipazioni, con ben 9 vittorie, nelle gare giapponesi: siamo contenti di poter avere ora per la prima volta anche un corridore nato nel Paese del sol levante”.

 

Questo il commento di Arashiro: “Diventerò membro di una squadra con una grande tradizione e avrò come compagni corridori di altissimo livello: è una prospettiva bellissima.

Nella LAMPRE-MERIDA avrò l’opportunità di continuare a dimostrare che i ciclisti giapponesi e asiatici hanno la possibilità di ambire a importanti traguardi, guardo al futuro in blu-fucsia-verde con molte aspettative, perché sono sicuro che imparerò molto in una squadra così professionale e spero di poter ispirare qualche giovane atleta asiatico.

The rising sun will shine on LAMPRE-MERIDA in 2016, thanks to the transfer of Yukia Arashiro (photo Bettini) who, after having signed an agreement with the team manager Brent Copeland, will became the first Japanese cyclist ever in the history of the blue-fuchsia-green team.

 

Arashiro, who was born in Ishigaki in 1984, is accustomed with records, being a rider who wrote the history of the Japanese professional cycling movement: he was the first Japanese cyclist to complete a Tour de France (2009), to be in the top 5 of a Grande Boucle’s stage (5th in the 2nd stage of the Tour de France 2009, Monaco-Brignoles) and to be in the top 3 of a Giro d’Italia’s stage (3rd in the Novara-Novi Ligure, 5th stage of the Giro 2010); moreover, he’s the only one Japanese rider who obtained a place in the top 10 of a Classic race (10th in the Amstel Gold Race 2014).

Pro since 2006, he obtained 7 victories, participating in 5 Tour de France, 2 Giro d’Italia and 1 Vuelta a Espana.

Relying on his experience and his skills, which helped him to obtain the 17th place in the World Championship in Richmond, he’ll be for sure a quality additional rider for the blue-fuchsia-green group.
