LAMPRE-MERIDA -MILANO-SANREMO

Sono molte le note positivi nella Milano-Sanremo 2015 per una LAMPRE-MERIDA capace di correre da protagonista.

 

Con il 5° posto di Bonifazio e l’8° di Cimolai, la formazione diretta da Mario Scirea ha portato a termine un’ottima prova, nella quale ha messo a buon frutto tutte le valide risorse sulle quale ha potuto puntare sin dalla partenza da Milano.

I due giovani corridori blu-fucsia-verdi, 21 anni Bonifazio e 25 Cimolai, si sono trovati in via Roma a lottare per il successo con corridori esperti e tra i più gettonati alla vigilia nelle previsioni sui possibili favoriti: Bonifazio, al termine di una lunga volata, ha tagliato il traguardo in 5^posizione, alle spalle del vincitore Degenkolb, di Kristoff, di Matthews e di Sagan, mentre Cimolai ha saputo completare la doppietta di piazzamenti LAMPRE-MERIDA nella top 10 della Classicissima (foto Bettini).

Due italiani nei primi dieci, entrambi con i colori blu-fucsia-verdi.

 

“Il 5° posto è un risultato lusinghiero, sono felice per essere stato tra i protagonisti in una corsa che mi affascina tantissimo e che mi dà grandi motivazioni dato che si corre sulle strade sulle quale mi alleno tutti i giorni – ha spiegato Bonifazio – Sono arrivato bene a Sanremo, ho evitato le cadute che hanno spezzato il gruppo di testa nel finale ed ero pronto a lavorare per lanciare lo sprint di Cimolai: mi sono portato nelle prime posizioni ma, all’uscita dell’ultima curva, ci siamo persi e, quando mi sono accorto che non c’era più margine per ritrovarsi, ho provato a tirare dritto.

E’ stata una buona prova, sicuramente mi servirà anche come esperienza per provare a migliorare in futuro questo risultato”.

 

Queste le parole di Cimolai: “Ho corso bene, la squadra è stata fantastica e le motivazioni mi hanno aiutato a superare il freddo, la pioggia e la fatica. Arrivati nell’ultimo chilometro, Bonifazio ha iniziato a lavorare per portarmi davanti, ma l’approccio a uno sprint così importante e con 300 km nelle gambe è difficilmente lineare: all’ultima curva ci siamo disuniti e ho perso qualche posizione, poi non mi è stata possibile la rimonta.

Partivo con buone ambizioni, il podio sarebbe stato un grande risultato, ma giudico come buona la prova di oggi”.

 

Ennesima prestazione di spessore e di generosità da parte di Matteo Bono, in avanscoperta, inizialmente con altri 10 attaccanti, per più di 260 km e ultimo ad arrendersi a 25 km dal traguardo sulla Cipressa.

Il veterano bresciano, 10^ stagione da professionista nella formazione blu-fucsia-verde, ha aggiunto un’altra perla di coraggio alla sua collezione che comprende, tra le imprese più recenti, la fuga nella Milano-Sanremo 2014, quella nella Liegi-Bastogne-Liegi 2014 e l’azione a lunga gittata nella 9^tappa del Giro d’Italia della stagione scorsa.

 

Le uniche note negative della giornata della LAMPRE-MERIDA sono venute da alcuni episodi sfortunati, il primo dei quali ha visto Rui Costa trascinato a terra da dai due atleti che lo precedevano mentre pedalava nelle prime posizioni del gruppo lungo la discesa del Capo Berta: per il campione del mondo di Firenze 2013 alcune escoriazioni e il rammarico per non aver potuto giocare il suo ruolo di importante pedina fino in fondo, come sicuramente sarebbe stato in grado di fare.

 

Un’altra caduta, questa volta occorsa nella discesa del Poggio, ha spezzato il gruppo dei corridori rimasti in testa alla gara, tagliando fuori dai giochi un Pozzato fino a quel momento molto pimpante e con ancora energie per essere protagonista.

Many good feedbacks for LAMPRE-MERIDA in Milano-Sanremo 2015.

 

The team, that was directed by Mario Scirea, exploited in good way all the resources they could rely on and they succeeded in obtaining the 5th place thanks to Bonifazio and the 8th position thanks to Cimolai.

 

Bonifazio, 21 years old, and Cimolai, 25 years old. battled in via Roma against more expert riders and against cyclists that were more popular at the eve in the group of the favourite athletes for the victory: at the end of a long sprint, Niccolò crossed the finish line just before the winner Degenkolb, Kristoff, Matthews and Sagan, obtaining a very good 5th place, and Cimolai completed the double of LAMPRE-MERIDA riders in the top ten obtaining the 8th position (photo Bettini).

They were also the only two Italian riders in the top 10 of the race standing.

 

“The fifth place is a good result for me, I’m happy I succeeded in being protagonist in this race, that covers the roads I cover every day during trainings – Bonifazio explained – The approach to Sanremo was perfect for me, I avoid the crashes that characterized the final part of the race and I still had energies, so I was ready to support Cimolai in view of the sprint. I was in the front position but, when we covered the last bend, I lost the contact with Cimolai and, when I realized what had happened, it was too late to try to be come closer, so I decided to go on in the sprint”.

 

This is the comment by Cimolai: “I realized a good performance, the support from the team was perfect and the motivations helped me to overcome the cold, the rain and the fatigue.

In the final kilometer, Bonifazio moved forward but in the final bend I had problems to follow him, so I tried to recover in the sprint but it was too difficult to do better than what I did.

I had good ambitions for this race, a place on the podium would have been amazing, but I think I can be satisfied”.

 

Another one outstanding performance by Matteo Bono, who was once again the best attacker in a top race: he escaped from the bunch in the early kilometers with other 10 riders and he was the last one attacker to surrender on the Cipressa after more than 260 km of breakway.

 

The good performances that Rui Costa and Pozzato were bringing on were stopped by two unfortunate events.

The Portuguese cyclists crashed in the Capo Berta downhill when two riders who were preceding him in the front position of the bunch slipped and hit the road: for Rui, light bruises, but he could not complete the race.

Pozzato got stuck in the second part of the selected head group in the Poggio downhill, when a crash broke the group in two.
