TOUR OF HAINAN

Tante maglie blu-fucsia-verdi in testa al gruppo nella volata conclusiva della 1^tappa del Tour of Hainan (Cina) (Chenmgai-Chenmgai, 85,4 km), ma il successo ha premiato Moreno Hofland (Belkin).

 

La LAMPRE-MERIDA è rimasta senza vittoria nell’esordio nella corsa cinese, consolandosi comunque con una serie di piazzamenti di spicco: nell’ordine d’arrivo, hanno trovato posto Palini (2°), Bonifazio (4°) e Ferrari (6°).

Al termine di una tappa molto breve, il traguardo di Chenmgai offriva a Palini (foto Bettini) la possibilità di prendersi una rivincita contro Hofland, dato che l’olandese l’aveva preceduto per due volte nel Tour of Utah: anche in Cina, i valori sono stati ripetuti e Palini ha dovuto accontentarsi della piazza d’onore.

 

“Non è stato facile trovare la giusta brillantezza in una frazione così corta, dopo un lunghissimo viaggio per arrivare ad Hainan – ha spiegato Palini – La volata è stata aperta, ho cercato la ruota di Hofland, ma non sono riuscito a precederlo.

La Belkin è una squadra organizzata, ma anche noi della LAMPRE-MERIDA non siamo da meno, anzi abbiamo tanta qualità”.

A bunch of blue-fuchsia-green jerseys in the head positions of the peloton in the massive sprint at the end of the 1st stage of Tour of Hainan (Chenmgai-Chenmgai, 85,4 km), but the victory went to Moreno Hofland (Belkin).

 

LAMPRE-MERIDA could not win, but it ruled the race standing thanks to the second place of Palini (2nd), Bonifazio (4th) and Ferrari (6th).

At the end of a very short stage, Chenmgai arrival offered to Palini (photo Bettini) the opportunity for a payback on Hofland, who had preceded him twice in Tour of Utah: unfortunately, also in China the values was kept and Palini was second behind the Dutch rider.

 

“It was not simple to be competitive in a such short stage, after a very long journey to reach Hainan – Palini explained – The sprint was open to many riders, I tried to follow Hofland but I could not overtake him.

Belkin is a very good team, but LAMPRE-MERIDA is even better and we’ll hit for sure the target”.
