TOUR OF UTAH

Un grande Sonny Colbrelli ha conquistato il 2° posto nella 5° Tappa del Tour, corsasi in circuito nella capitale Salt Lake City per 89.1km.

 

Sull’impegnativo traguardo posto in cima ad un breve ma ripido strappo Colbrelli ha sfiorato il successo terminando alle spalle del vincitore Micheal Wood (Optum Kelly Benifts), che ha sorpreso partendo ai piedi della salita,  confermando però una condizione in netta crescita in vista dell’importante finale di stagione.

Bene anche Stefano Pirazzi presente nella fuga di giornata e molto attivo nei giri finali.

DICHIARAZIONI

 

Sonny Colbrelli:”Pur essendo un arrivo molto impegnativo, so di avere una buona condizione e dopo l’occasione mancata di ieri, ero molto determinato a dimostrare di poter fare meglio. Woods ha anticipato tutti ai piedi dell’erta conclusiva, ero convinto che tornasse indietro ma invece ha tenuto duro fin sotto al traguardo. Io ho provato a chiudere negli ultimi 100 metri ma pur arrivandogli in scia non sono riuscito a superarlo. Sono comunque soddisfatto di questo podio che mi da morale per affrontare le prossime impegnative frazioni”.

 

PROSSIMA TAPPA

La 6° Tappa del Tour of Utah, Salt Lake City – Snowbird Lake Resort di 177.7km, è probabilmente la più impegnativa. Diversi ascese su tutto il percorso, con una molto che raggiungerà quasi i 3.000 di altitudine a 45km dall’arrivo, più il traguardo in cima ad una dura ascesa finale.

A superb Sonny Colbrelli has conquered the 2nd place in Tour of Utah Stage 5, ran on city circuit in the capital Salt Lake City.

 

On the arrival set atop of a steep uphill Colbrelli went close to win his first race of the season, crossing the finish line just behind the winner Micheal Woods (Optum Kelly Benifts) that surprised everyone with an early attack at the bottom of the final uphill.

Also Stefano Pirazzi highlighted during the stage. He was present in the early breakaway and very active in the closing laps.

REACTIONS

 

Sonny Colbrelli:”Although the arrival was demanding, I know to have a good shape and after the missed opportunity of yesterday, I was really focused to do better. Woods attacked at the bottom of the final uphill, I thought won’t be a problem catch him, instead he held until the finish line. I launched my sprint in the last 100 meters, I went close to him but not enough to pass and take the victory. However I could be satisfied how went today. This podium give me a lot of morale for next stages with several high mountains”.

 

NEXT STAGE

The Tour of Utah goes now inside the final and decisive two stages. The sixth will start in Salt Lake and finish in Snowbird Lake Resort after 177km. It looks the queen stage of the race with a penultimate long climb with the summit close to 3.000 meters and then the arrival atop of a final hard ascent.
