Giornata nera per la Vini Zabù che nella 1^ tappa dell’Istrian Spring Trophy deve salutare il giovane Veljko Stojnic, caduto nei primi km di una giornata condizionata dalla pioggia e subito trasportato all’Ospedale di Porec.

Il corridore serbo si è sottoposto ai raggi dove è stata riscontrata la frattura composta del femore che lo costringerà a dover rimanere in stato di assoluto riposo per un lungo periodo.

Anche la frazione non è stata facile per gli uomini diretti da Francesco Frassi e Luca Scinto, costretti ad inseguire quasi da soli la fuga di sette corridori che a 50 km dall’arrivo contavano su un rassicurante margine di 5’00” sul gruppo.

Il plotone, spezzatosi dopo una maxi caduta a meno di 2000 metri dal traguardo, riusciva a riassorbire i battistrada solo sotto lo striscione dell’ultimo km.

In una volata anarchica, Jakub Mareczko rimaneva inizialmente chiuso e la sua rimonta si fermava al 4° posto con la tappa e di conseguenza la nuova maglia di leader a Filippo Fortin.

A very unlucky day for the team Vini Zabù that has lost at the beginning of the 1st stage Veljko Stojnic who was involved in a crash due to the wet pavement and lately he was transported to the Hospital of Porec.

The x-rays showed that the serbian rider suffered a compound fracture of the femur that will leave him away from the races for few months.

The stage was very complicated for the riders directed by Francesco Frassi and Luca Scinto, forced to chase almost on their own the breakaway of seven riders that with 50 kms to go had still a good gap of 5’00” over the peloton.

The final part of the stage was chaotic with a huge crash in the peloton with 2 kms to go and the first part of the group was able to reach the breakaway just inside the last km.

The sprint was very confusing and Jakub Mareczko couldn’t come out from the mix in the right moment ending his come back in 4th place. The winner of the stage Filippo Fortin is now also the leader of the general classification.
