AREA ZERO-D’AMICO-BOTTECCHIA ( VIDEO )

Esperienza positiva per i giovani di Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia.

 

Ancona (AN), Con la quinta e ultima tappa con arrivo nella capitale Zagabria si è conclusa la trasferta croata di Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia.

 

“Per i nostri giovani il Tour of Croatia è stata un’esperienza che ha sicuramente contribuito ad accresce il loro baglio tecnico” spiega il direttore sportivo Massimo Codol. “Sono state 5 tappe molto intense. Questa era la prima edizione, ma il Tour of Croatia ha dimostrato di poter diventare un appuntamento importante del calendario internazionale. Complessivamente siamo soddisfatti dell’atteggiamento della nostra squadra però penso che con un pizzico di fortuna in più avremmo potuto raccogliere qualche piazzamento migliore. Silvio Giorni ha confermato il suo ottimo spunto veloce. Il primo giorno purtroppo nel finale Silvio è caduto, ma nella seconda tappa si subito ributtato nella mischia ottenendo un buon sesto posto confrontandosi con sprinter di buon livello”.

 

“Mi è piaciuto molto anche il nostro debuttante, il colombiano Eduardo Estrada” continiua il Ds Codol. “Anche lui purtroppo il secondo giorno è rimasto coinvolto in una brutta caduta riportando diverse botte all’anca e al costato. Nonostante ciò il terzo giorno, nel tappone di 230 km con arrivo in salita sul Monte Maggiore, ha concluso in 24a posizione con i migliori del gruppo. Non male per un ragazzo di soli 20 anni considerando che questa era la prima corsa che faceva con noi e che è arrivato in Italia da poco più di una settimana. Direi che per lui ci sono tutte le prospettive per crescere”.

 

“Poi non dimentichiamoci di altri corridori come Antonio Parrinello, che qui in Croazia è tornato a buoni livelli dopo l’infortunio della Coppi e Bartali, Giorgio Bocchiola e Adriano Brogi che ogni giorno hanno cercato di entrare nella fuga giusta correndo con determinazione e tenacia. E’ proprio questo l’atteggiamento che volgiamo dai nostri ragazzi” conclude Codol.

 

Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia sarà di nuovo in gara il 9 maggio al Tour de Berne (UCI 1.2) in Svizzera.

THE TOUR OF CROATIA WRAPS UP

A positive experience for the young Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia riders

 

Ancona (AN), 27 April, 2014 – Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia wrapped up their Croatian transfer in the fifth and last stage of the Tour of Croatia, which featured the final finish line in the capital city of Zagabria.

 

“For our young riders the Tour of Croatia was an experience which definitely contributed to accruing their technical knowledge,” explains Sports Director Massimo Codol. “They were 5 really intense stages. This was the first edition of this race, but the Tour of Croatia proved that it can become an important event on the international calendar. Overall we are pleased with how our team behaved, but I think that with a little more luck we could have come away with some better placements. Silvio Giorni proved that he is an excellent speed racer. Unfortunately Silvio fell in the final stretch on the first day, but in the second stage he got right back in to the mix and obtained a good sixth place after going head to head with other impressive sprinters.”

 

“I was also very happy with our rookie, Colombian Eduardo Estrada” continues SD Codol. “Unfortunately, on the second day he too was involved in a bad fall, which resulted in several scrapes and bruises to his hip and ribs. Regardless of that, on the third day, in the 230 km super stage with a climbing arrival on Monte Maggiore, he came in 24th among the best in the group. Not bad for a mere 20-year-old kid, considering that this was his first race with us, and that he had only arrived in Italy a little over a week before. I would say that he has all the prerequisites for progress.”

 

“And let’s not forget other riders like Antonio Parrinello, who came back to a good level here in Croatia, after the injuries he sustained in the Coppi e Bartali. Then every day Giorgio Bocchiola and Adriano Brogi tried making it into the right break, racing with determination and tenacity. This is exactly the attitude we want from our guys,” concludes Codol.

 

Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia will race again on May 9th at the Tour de Berne (UCI 1.2) in Switzerland.
